The Lovejoy Leopard Volleyball team defeated the Liberty Redhawks Tuesday night at Berkner with a 3-1 win. The girls came out determined with a clear game plan that was executed flawlessly. On their heels, the Redhawks were shocked and couldn’t overcome the intensity of the Leopards initial attack and lost the first set. Not backing down from a challenge, Liberty came out more aggressive and due to some unforced errors by the Leopards, took control of the game. After a long battle for points, Lovejoy fought their way back to tie, but lose the final two points against a strong Liberty offense. Faced with a 1-1 set tie, the girls knew they had to push for the 3rd set win. A balanced offense and relentless defense proved successful for the Leopards as they pulled away with a 25-15 win. In a last ditch effort, the Redhawks were all in the 4th set. Lovejoy continued to push the focus and keep control of the match. Outside hitters Madison Waters and Cecily Bramschreiber kept the kills coming, while Brinkley Barker contributed an offensive change up on the right side. In the end, the Leopards took the W after a long hard battle with the Liberty Redhawks.
Lovejoy continues their playoff run against Red Oak this Friday night at Berkner High School.
