The Freshmen Black and Red teams both competed Tuesday night at home against McKinney North and got the sweep in 2 sets each.
The Freshmen Black team was able to pull out a win despite having a rough start. It was back and forth until the Lady Leopards pulled away and never looked back. Brooklyn Lloyd continues to be a power server for the Leopards and Norah Natarajan stepped up as an offensive force at the net. The Lady Leopards won 25-12, 25-13.
The Freshmen Red team had a slow start and traded points with McKinney North throughout the first set. Every time the Lady Leopards seemed to take the lead, McKinney North would come back and make it a close match up, but Lovejoy was able to pull out a win. McKinney North took a 6-1 lead in the second set, but the Lady Leopards rallied back and controlled the game. Elizabeth Ponder led the team with powerful attacks at the net and Becca Masterson’s aggressive serves helped gained momentum for Lovejoy. The Lady Leopards won the match, 25-22, 25-16.
