The Lady Leopard Varsity Softball team extends their district record to 2-0 with a win over West Mesquite tonight.

Sydney Provence and Harleigh Bettis dueled in the circle and Holly Massey took care of catching duties behind the plate. Provence threw 5 strikeouts on the night and only allowed 1 hit in her two innings of work. Bettis let the Wrangler hitters put the ball in plate in the 3rd and Carlee Schaeffer at shortstop, along with Rebecca Holiman at first, took care of the outs.

The Leopards started the game off with 8 runs in the first inning on a one hole through nine hole contribution. The Leopards demonstrated discipline at the plate drawing 4 walks and took advantage with 5 hits.

Leah Taylor started the game off with a single toward 2nd base, Mackenzie Mitchell popped to shortstop, then Harleigh Bettis doubled to left hitting in Taylor. Alyssa DiFiore drew a walk and Delaney DiCristofaro hit her in on a triple to right centerfield. Holly Massey and Carlee Schaeffer drew back to back walks and Rebecca Holiman hit both of them in on a single to centerfield. Madeline Robinson was hit by a pitch, Taylor drew a walk, then Mitchell hit a single toward left field to score both Robinson and Taylor. The inning ended on a pop out by Bettis and a deep fly by DiFiore.

DiCristofaro led off the 2nd inning with a single to left field and was hit in by Massey’s monster triple. Schaeffer hit in Massey and herself with an in the park home run to right field. Holiman, Robinson and Taylor drew back to back to back walks and Mitchell hit a single to hit in one and the other two scored on an error by the right fielder from Mitchell’s single. Bettis was then hit by a pitch, stole 2nd base, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and was hit in by DiFiore on a single. DiCristofaro reached 1st on a bunting error and eventually scored the last run of the 2nd inning.

The Lady Leopards finished their offense for the night working on bunting and the Wrangler defense made the outs.

The Lady Leopards continue district play on Tuesday at home against Forney.
