Lovejoy Varsity Baseball Can’t Quite Erase 4-Run Deficit In Loss To Poteet
Lovejoy Varsity Baseball fought back after falling down by four runs in the sixth inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 10-9 defeat to Poteet on Tuesday. Lovejoy scored three runs in the failed comeback on a home run by Michael DiFiore and a home run by Luke Stine.
Lovejoy got things started in the second inning on a single by Jacob Eschler, an error and two wild pitches to take the lead 3-0. The Leopards scored three more in the 3rd inning on a walk, hit by pitch, a double by Eschler and a single by Matt Piccirillo. Finally, although coming up short, In the seventh inning Lovejoy scored their last 3 runs on a single by Jordan Yoder and home runs by Stine and DiFiore.
Cameron Pool took the loss. He lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out four.
Nathan Fallon started the game. He went three and a third innings, allowing six runs on five hits and walking one.
Lovejoy Varsity Baseball racked up nine hits. Matt Piccirillo, DiFiore, and Jacob Eschler all collected multiple hits.
Lovejoy falls to 15-12 on the season and 5-6 in district.
