Lovejoy Varsity Baseball Falls To McKinney On Walkoff
Lovejoy fell to McKinney 8-7 on Saturday on the final play of the game. The game was tied at seven with McKinney batting in the bottom of the sixth when McKinney singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
The Leopards lost despite out-hitting McKinney eight to seven.
Lovejoy got things moving in the first inning. Jordan Yoder’s sac fly and Michael Difiore’s 2 run home run put the Leopards in front 3-0, and in the third inning notched three more runs on Jacob Eschler 3 run homer.
Cade Smitherman took the loss. He went one and one-third innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out one and walking one.
Michael Difiore started the game for Lovejoy. He allowed four hits and seven runs over four and a third innings, striking out two.
The Leopards delivered two home runs on the day. Difiore went yard in the first inning. Eschler had a long ball in the third inning. Yoder and Difiore each collected multiple hits on the day.
Lovejoy falls to 10-5 on the season. The Leopards look to get back on track when they host Highland Park on Tuesday (7:30pm), opening up district play.
