Lovejoy Varsity Baseball lost the lead late in a 5-1 defeat to Hallsville on Thursday.
The game was tied at one with Hallsville batting in the bottom of the fourth when Houston singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run.
Lovejoy got things started in the first inning with Luke Stine’s solo homer.
Hallsville pulled away for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth Daniel singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run and Cox’s sac fly scored one run for Hallsville.
Lovejoy lost despite out-hitting Hallsville five to four.
York was credited with the victory for Hallsville. He lasted five innings, allowing four hits and zero runs while striking out ten and walking zero.
Jacob Terwilliger took the loss for Lovejoy Varsity Baseball. He allowed four hits and five runs over four and a third innings, striking out five.
Lovejoy is now 9-3 on the season.
