Lovejoy took the lead late in the game in a 7-4 victory over Sherman on Friday.
The game was tied at three with Lovejoy batting in the bottom of the fifth when an error scored one run for Lovejoy to earn the victory despite allowing Sherman to score three runs in the fourth inning.
Lovejoy fired up the offense in the first inning, when Michael DiFiore singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, and Luke Finn singled in two runs. In fifth inning, the Leopards scored two more runs to seal the victory on a walk a hit by pitch, an error and a fielders choice.
Jacob Terwilliger led things off on the mound for Lovejoy Varsity Baseball. He went three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on three hits and striking out five. Cameron Pool picked up the win going 3 1/3 innings, giving up 2 hits, striking out 6 and walking none.
The leopards pounded out 8 hits on the evening. Finn (2B), Luke Stine, and Ralph Rucker all recored multiple hits.
Lovejoy improves to 14-3 and 3-0 in district play.
