Lovejoy claimed a 10-6 victory on Friday, despite a big push by Sherman in the third inning scoring 5 runs.
The Leopards opened up scoring in the second inning, when Colton Laurence singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run. Then took the lead for good with seven runs in the fourth inning, Ralph Rucker singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs, Jordan Yoder doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run, Luke Stine singled on a 1-2 count, scoring two runs, and Cameron Pool’s sac fly scored one run.
Harrison Durow took the win. He allowed two hits and one run over four innings, striking out seven and walking zero. Yoder started the game and lasted three innings, allowing four hits and five runs while striking out two and walking one
Lovejoy racked up ten hits in the game. Yoder, Stine, and Laurence each collected multiple hits.
Lovejoy improves to 19-6 overall and 8-3 in district.
