Lovejoy Varsity Baseball Claims Victory Over Royse City
Lovejoy scores more runs than Royse City, takes victory on Tuesday to the tune of 4-1 to keep their playoffs hopes alive. The Leopards fired up the offense in the second inning when Luke Stine doubled, Jacob Eschler doubled as well scoring Stine, Cameron Pool singled, and Luke Howell singled scoring Eschler taking a 2-0 lead. In the 4th inning the Leopards scored two more runs to go up 4-0 on singles by Ralph Rucker and Howell.
Eschler led the Lovejoy to victory on the pitcher’s mound. He lasted six innings, allowing five hits and zero runs while striking out six. Luke Stine closed out the game by inducing a fielders choice ground ball for the final out.
Lovejoy Varsity Baseball collected 11 hits. Stine and Howell both collected multiple hits.
Lovejoy improved to 17-12 on the season and 7-6 in district. Friday’s game will determine who cliches the last playoff spot for District 15-5A.
