Lovejoy Varsity Baseball wins contest against Liberty Eylau, 8-4
In the first inning, Lovejoy Varsity Baseball got their offense started when Luke Finn doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
Lovejoy notched four runs in the third inning. Lovejoy’s big bats in the inning were led by singles by Jacob Terwilliger and Cameron Pool, a fielder’s choice by Colby Branch, and a double by Ralph Rucker.
Cade Smitherman earned the win for Lovejoy Varsity Baseball. He surrendered four runs on six hits over three and a third innings, striking out five and walking zero. Matt Piccirillo threw two and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen to record the save.
Lovejoy Varsity Baseball saw the ball well today, racking up 11 hits in the game. Jordan Yoder, Rucker, and Finn all managed multiple hits for Lovejoy Varsity Baseball.
Lovejoy improves to 11-3 on the season. Next up, the Leopards will be traveling to Denison on Tuesday in a district match up game.
