Game Recap

The Lovejoy Leopards beat Frisco Liberty in a 5 set thriller on Monday night. The girls were ready to play as they came out on fire in the first set. Madison Waters and Cecily Bramschreiber led the explosive offense. Liberty fought back at the end to make it a close 25-23. In set 2, Liberty’s offense brought a powerful force in addition to Lovejoy’s errors that contributed to a 14-25 loss. The next set, Lovejoy took charge right away to lead the Redhawks 20-13. A few key errors at the end and a final push gave Liberty the set at 26-24. Down 1 set to 2, Lovejoy had no option but to fight back in the 4th set. Newcomer Emma Johnson stepped up to provide solid defense with Libero Shanel Bramschreiber and DS Grace Broussard. The Leopards took the set and momentum into the 5th set running up the score with aggressive serving. Liberty didn’t back down and responded with a few heavy swings and solid blocks. In the end, the Leopards made a final uncontested sprint to snag the win over the Redhawks 15-12.

Congratulations to both teams on a hard fought game and spectacular heart shown in every set.

The Leopards advance to the Regional Semi-Finals this Friday night at 5pm against the winner of Lake Ridge vs. Waxahachie. The game will be hosted at Berkner High School once again. Come out and support your Lovejoy Leopards!
