Friday night was about many things, and all were accomplished in 90 minutes. The Leopards got 3 points, and in doing so, honored 11 young men that have given more than their fair share to the cause. As per usual, the boys were able to take the early lead with much pace, skill, and spacing. within 5 minutes, Caleb Toomey found Benjamin Merrick in the 6 yard box to get to boys up 1-0. Then Toomey buried is first of two goals to make the score 2-0 ten minutes into the game. The Leopards cruised the rest of the half, missing out on some golden chances but clearly handling the Panthers for the first 40 minutes. The second half got off to a rapid start with Princeton putting pressure on the boys, but 10 minutes into the second 40, Michael Branch put the game away with a goal of his own. The squad handled the rest of the final period smoothly, knocking the ball around with great spirit, ultimately winning 4-0 on Toomey’s second goal of the night. this time with a blast from outside the 18. The the win moves the boys to 7-2 in district, and 17-4-2 overall, firmly in 2nd with a chance to move up after spring break.
In the first game, the JV Leopards battled all 70 minutes with much fight, overcoming a hard nosed Princeton JV, 1-0. Jamie Finch scored the squads only goal on a great finish on a ball from Abhi Rajaiyan. The win moves the JV to 13-4-2 and a chance to play for a district title the next game vs McKinney North.
Both teams will catch some much needed rest over spring break and be back in action March 19th at McKinney North.
