On Friday, the men’s varsity played the Denton Ryan Raiders at Leopard stadium, coming out with a 3-0 win. Though dominating the possession for most of the first half, the Leopards found themselves in a scoreless tie until Connor Tays’s service to the front of the net found Gavin Goodrich, who calmly beat the Raider keeper to jump out 1-0. After halftime, the Leopards were able to control the flow of the game, ultimately seeing Ben Merrick beat the keeper to a loose ball in the 6 yard box and finishing nicely to go up 2-0. Minutes later, the boys would draw a penalty kick with more offensive possession, and Ben Merrick scored his 2nd tally of the night, confidently executing the PK. The win pushes the boys to 10-2 on the season.
Next Friday, Feb 1, the Leopards will host Sulphur Springs in the last scheduled non district game of the season at Leopard stadium.
