Girls Junior Varsity Soccer, Girls Varsity Soccer · Girls Junior Varsity Soccer Take 3rd Place in Greenville Tournament

Last week the Junior Varsity Girls Soccer team competed in the Greenville Tournament. On Thursday, in their first game vs. Sherman, the JV won 3-0. Goals were scored by Lia Hopkinson, Ava Valenzuela, and Molly Kenny. The goals were assisted by Savannah Fanous, Kailey McDonald, and Taylor Pickett. In their second game of the day, the JV beat Quinlan 3-0. Goals were scored by Gia George, Halle Meyer, and Lily Herran. Assists were by Kailey McDonald, Ava Valenzuela, and Lia Hopkinson. In their last group game, on Friday morning, the girls beat Crandall 4-0. Goals were scored by Halle Meyer (2), Lia Hopkinson, and Sawyer Greek. Assists by Melissa Conrad, Tessa Blasko, and Ava Valenzuela. In the semifinals the girls tied Mesquite 0-0 but lost the PK shootout 3-1. The opponent in the third place game was forced to forfeit due to injuries so the JV team took home the 3rd place trophy.

In the four games the JV team played they did not give up a single goal. The team as a whole contributes to keeping clean sheets but shout out to goalkeepers Molly Jenkins and Jasmine Gramajo and defenders Rachel Drew, Amiya Callicutt, Taylor Pickett, Avery Porter, Molly Kenny, Soli Stubbs, and Sydney Thompson.
