The Varsity boys soccer team got the 2019 campaign off to a great start in Georgetown at the Governor’s Cup last weekend. On Thursday, the boys battled the cold weather to come up with a 1-0 win over Leander Vista Ridge. Michael Branch’s header off the free kick of Alan Beaney proved to be the difference in the game as the Leopards were able to control the rest of the match. On Friday, the boys met up with Connally High School and came away with another win, this time by a score of 3- 0. Along with a strong defensive performance, goals were scored by Diego Rodriguez, Michael Myers, and Michael Branch netted his 2nd in as many days to round out the scoring for the Leopards. On Saturday, the squad defeated Oak Ridge High School in Conroe by a score of 8-1. Amongst all the scoring, Trey Reiner was able to net his first career Hat Trick at LHS, while Alan Beaney (2), Caleb Toomey, Benji Merrick, and Michael Branch all got involved in the scoring as well. The Leopards will look to continue the fast start in the Allen Eagle tournament this weekend, squaring off against sides from Dallas Conrad, Hebron, and Plano East.
