Boys Freshman Basketball · Coach’s Spotlight: Chris Walker

Each week the Lovejoy Athletic Department will feature the outstanding contributions from a member of our coaching staff.  We appreciate the time, dedication, and the leadership that they invest in our student-athletes.  This week’s Spotlight is on ­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­Chris Walker.  Coach Walker serves as the freshmen basketball coach and works with the Willow Springs football team.

Coach Walker’s group traveled to the McKinney Tournament this weekend going 3-1 and taking home 3rd place honors after defeating Allen’s freshmen team.

Coach Walker’s Biography:

High School Attended: Allen High School

College Attended: the University of Texas at Austin

How many years have you coached and what schools have you coached at? 5 Years – Lovejoy (1) Red Oak (3 Years), Frisco (2 Years)

What sports did you play in high school? Basketball

What is the most rewarding part of being a coach?   The most rewarding part of being a coach is seeing these athletes grow up to be incredible men and seeing them take what lessons they learn as athletes and transfer those into being a better student, son, employee, etc.

What coach has left a lasting impression on you and why?   My JV Coach made the biggest impression on me. He really showed us that he cared about us beyond just basketball and created a culture where excellence and hard work were an expectation every day and in everything we did (both on and off the court).

Who are your favorite athletes and or teams? Athletes – Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Brandon Roy Teams – Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys, Texas Longhorns, Carolina Tarheels

What is on your athletic bucket list? Attend NBA Finals Game 7, FBS Championship, NCAA Final Four, NBA All-Star Game, Superbowl, World Cup Game, Olympics
