College Attended: Texas A&M Commerce
How many years and at what schools have you coached? One year at Texas A&M Commerce, three years at Irving Nimitz, and four years at Lovejoy.
What sports do you coach? Head Boys’ Cross Country and Girls’ Track
What is the best part of coaching in Lovejoy? The best part of coaching at Lovejoy is the collaboration of working with great kids, supportive parents, and a supportive administration.
What is one of your most memorable moments in coaching? The 2015 Boys Cross Country team competing at the State XC Championship. It was a mud fest and our boys’ team earned the state runner-up title. It was a race of epic proportions due to the unbelievable amount of mud and rain.
Who is your favorite athlete and why? Michael Jordan. Basketball was my first love of sports growing up and I was his biggest fan. He was a champion, the best ever, and did things the right way.
What do you like to do outside of work? Running, watching movies, playing video games, being outdoors, and spending time with my dog Bella.
What is the best part of being a coach? The best part of being a coach is seeing kids find success and improving with consistent dedication and hard work. It is an honor to help be a part of that process and fun trying to figure out ways to motivate kids to reach their individual excellence.
Congratulations to Coach Kelly and the entire Cross Country program for their incredible win at this year’s State Cross Country Championship!
