The Leopard ladies competed in the Class 5A, Region II golf tournament Monday and Tuesday, at Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club. Sixteen teams, and sixteen individuals made up the 96 player field. Two teams, and two individuals from the eight districts in our region were competing. The top three teams, and individuals move on to the state tournament. Although falling just short of advancing, our girls performed well, finishing in fourth place. We are proud of our efforts this year.
Day one, as far as conditions, was the easier of the two. As a team we shot a total score 366, which put us in fifth place overall. Liberty, Wakeland, Granbury, and Lake Dallas were in front of us at the end of the day. Allie Bianchi shot 80, which also had her in the mix for a possible medalist position, tied for fifth place. Katie Dragoo shot a 90. Callie Mayfield finished the day with a 97. Mallory Sailer carded a 99. Kendall Sailer shot also shot 99. And Jazmine Veatch shot 104.
The wind made day two conditions much more difficult. It blew all day long, and scores went up. The team total score, 373 left us in fourth place. The girls desire to advance to the state tournament was there, and they gave an excellent effort. Allie Bianchi finished the day shooting an 84. Her two day total 164 left her with 2nd Team All Region Honors. Katie Dragoo shot 91 day two, for a total 181, and 23rd place finish. Callie Mayfield shot 99, and her 196 total gave her a 43rd place finish. Mallory Sailer again shot 99 for a total 198, finishing in 48th position. Kendall Sailer shot 102, giving her a 201 total, and 49th position. Jazmine Veatch carded 102, finishing in 56th position with her total 206.
We had a great deal of success this year, and I am very proud of our ladies. Advancing to the regional tournament, and finishing well is very big accomplishment. We are still very young in the game. I am excited to think about what we will accomplish next year as we continue to work hard and improve our game. Thank you to each of you.
