The Leopard Women’s Varsity Golf Team competed in the District 15/5A Tournament, Monday and Tuesday, April 10/11. Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club hosted the event, which included 47 women competing, from eight schools. Our girls played well. Conditions were very difficult at times, and I know it forced some tough moments on the course. Day 1 was suspended, due to lightening, with several groups still on the course.
At the end of round 1, Lovejoy(362) trailed by 19 to Highland Park(343), but we had a comfortable 32 shot lead over 3rd place. The Leopard Captain, Allie Bianchi, was tied for the tournament lead after round 1, shooting an 82. Katie Dragoo shot an 88. Mallory Sailer followed with a 96. Callie Mayfield also shot a 96. Kendall Sailer finished with a 99. The Leopard Individuals were lead by Jazmine Veatch, 95. Alyssa Paranteau shot 107, and Autumn Krisher shot 123.
Day 2 conditions were very tough early, then eased up a bit about 1:30 pm. We were in store for some very good golf. Allie Bianchi had a great match with her competitor for the District Championship. She was able to fight through some tough situations and shoot 78, which was good enough to win the District 15/5A Championship by one shot. Katie Dragoo shot a well played 83, which pushed her up to a tie for 4th place overall. Callie Mayfield shot 99 and finished in 10th place. Mallory Sailer shot 105 for a 15th place finish. Kendall Sailer shot 107 to finish 19th. Jazamine Veatch shot 95, and qualified as an individual to compete in the Regional Tournament. Alyssa Paranteau shot 107, and Autumn Krisher shot 121.
The team shot 362/365 for total 727. This was good for 2nd place, and qualifies us to compete in the Regional Golf Tournament, April 24 and 25. The tournament will again be played at Rockwall Golf and Athletic Club. We have a little over a week to shave a few strokes off, and make run at qualifying for the State Tournament. Good job, all of you.
