The Leopards left Hanby Stadium in Mesquite after scoring 56.5 points on the opening day of the District 15-5A Track and Field Championships.
Colin Engbrock won for the fourth consecutive meet clearing a height of 14′ in the Pole Vault. Jeremy Young was back in action this week following a late season injury, clearing 13’6″ to finish 2nd. Dylan Neitsch cleared 12′ to earn a tie for 6th place, setting a personal record. Three more Leopards scored in the Triple Jump event. Chase Van Wagoner jumped a distance of 43’1″ finishing 3rd, Blake Pfaff jumped a distance of 41’10.25″ for a 5th place finish, and Tyler Van Wagoner finished 6th with a jump of 41’8.75″. In the Shot Put event, James Rainey threw a distance of 47’2.25 for a 3rd place finish, and Nathaniel Finch finished 6th with a throw of 43’3.5″. Ryan Brands (9:44.83, 1st), Bradley Davis (9:51.16, 3rd), and Brady Laboret (9:52.62, 4th) earned an impressive 20 out of a possible 24 points in the 3200m Run.
