The Lovejoy Track and Field team competed at the Allen Eagle Relays on Friday, March 31st, winning three individual events and the 4x100m Relay. Beau Iovinelli, Jake Chamberlin, Landon McDermott, and Chase Van Wagoner won the 4x100m Relay with a time of 42.16, setting a new school record for the 4th time this season. Chase Van Wagoner competed in five events, scoring 29 points to lead the Leopards. He increased two of his school records, winning the Long Jump (23’2.5″) and finishing second in the Triple Jump (42’10”). Colin Engbrock won the pole vault with a vault of 13’6″ to win his third consecutive meet, and James Rainey won the discus event with a throw of 148’1″, his best throw of the season, and finished second in the Shot Put. The Leopards also had second place finishes by Brady Laboret (3200m), Dylan Neitsch (Pole Vault), and Jake Chamberlin (400m).
In the Junior Varsity division, Michael DesJardins continues an impressive freshman season by winning the Pole Vault competition with a vault of 11’6″. Anthony Tang cleared a height of 9’6″, for his personal best. Harper Pool cleared 5’6″ in the High Jump competition to finish 3rd, and Carter Griffith jumped a distance of 18’7″ in the Long Jump, finishing 6th.
