The Leopard Men’s Golf Team competed this weekend at Bridlewood Country Club in the “Big Bear Invitational,” hosted by Brewer High School. There were some very strong teams competing in this tournament and our boys finished 5th out of the ten teams attending.
Friday, November 11th, the boys played their best team round of the year to this point. A team total score of 335 after day one, left the boys sitting in 5th place. Coach Carroll was very complementary as to how the boys handled themselves and the course on day one.
Brian Wolfe posted the team low round of 77. Jonah Barton shot 78. Ben Marples shot 87. Grayson Wehking shot 93. Matt Welch shot 100.
Day two conditions were a bit more difficult. More wind and a firmer golf course, scores did go up a little, but that seemed to be the trend for most teams. Brian Wolfe again posted Lovejoy’s low score for the day. He shot an 82, for 2 day total 159, good for 13th overall. Jonah Barton posted 83, and a 2 day total 161 and 16th overall. Grayson Wehking improved with an 85, giving him a 2 day total 178. Ben Marples shot 93, which totaled 180. Matt Welch shot 93 for a tournament total 193.
We are very pleased the boys are starting to play better as a team. They are consistently building towards the district tournament in April.
