The Lovejoy Cross Country and Track booster club hosted one of the largest cross country meets in the state of TX on Saturday – September 24, 2016. The Lovejoy XC Fall Festival was held at Myers Park in McKinney, TX and consisted 80 high school and 20+ middle school teams. Over 3,700 + registered runners participated. This was the largest number of registered runners in the meets history. Several teams traveled long distances to participate including Mountain Brook High School from Alabama, three time state champion Marietta High School from Oklahoma, El Paso Americas High School, and El Paso Socorro High School.
In the Elite Boys division 24 teams competed. Lovejoy placed 2nd overall (99 points) to 6A Plano West (96 points). El Paso Americas placed 3rd overall with 103 points.
In the Elite Girls division 21 teams competed and the Lovejoy girls placed 15th overall with a loaded field of state ranked teams. Carson Hockersmith led the girls team with a 31st place finish in 20:09.
In the 5A-6A Varsity Boys division the Lovejoy boys 2nd varsity team placed 10th overall out of 40 teams.
In the JV Divisions the Lovejoy girls placed 4th out of 37 full teams. 468 girls competed in the JV girls division! The boys team placed 8th out of 46th full teams. 562 boys competed in the JV boys division!
The Willow Springs girls team placed 8th out of 14 teams. The Willow Springs boys team placed 3rd out of 20 teams.
