Several Lovejoy ISD athletes competed this summer in track and field competitions at the national level. All competed at the national level either in USATF or AAU Junior Olympic track championships. The USATF National Junior Olympic Championship was held in Sacramento, CA. The AAU National Junior Olympic Championship was held in Humble, TX.
Kaylee Littlefield – 5th Grade
Kaylee competed in the AAU Junior Olympics earning All-American status in the 1500M.
AAU Girls Age 10 800M – 4th overall with a time of 2:34
AAU Girls Age 10 1500M – National Champion with at time of 5:07
Audrey Bensmiller – 8th grade
Audrey received All-American Status at the USATF Junior Olympics.
USATF Girls Age 13-14 Pole Vault – 6th overall with a personal best vault of 10’ 2”
Jake Chamberlin – 10th Grade
Jake received 3 X All-American status at the USATF Junior Olympics.
USATF Boys 15-16 400M – 6th overall with a time of 49.96 (49.24 PR in qualifying round)
USATF Boys 15-16 4X100 – 5th overall
USATF Boys 15-15 4X400 – 2nd overall
Jahi Rainey – 10th Grade
Jahi competed in the USATF, AAU Junior Olympics, and TAAF Region VII Championships. Jahi was unable to compete in the TAAF Games of Texas Championship due to conflicting dates with the USATF Junior Olympics.
AAU Boys Age 15-16 Shot Put – 15th overall with a throw of 41’ 9.25”
AAU Boys Age 15-16 Discus – 6th overall with a personal best throw of 145’ 7”
USATF Boys Age 15-16 Shot Put – 11th overall with a throw of 44’ 1.13” (45’ 8.82” PR in USATF Region 12 Championship)
USATF Boys Age 15-16 Discus – 16th overall with a throw of 132’ 8.12”
TAAF Region VII Boys Shot Put – 2nd overall with a throw of 42’ 10”
TAAF Region VII Boys Discus – 3rd overly with a throw of 126’2”
Ryan Brands – 11th Grade
Ryan earned a podium spot in the AAU Junior Olympics in the 3000M.
