Multiple Teams · Senior Tom Elvin Finishes 3rd in State!!

Senior Tom Elvin, pictured above with his 3rd place medal this past Saturday at the UIL State Wrestling Championship held in Cypress, TX.

Elvin was one of 4 Lovejoy wrestlers to compete at the state tournament, with junior Dylan South and freshmen Lilly Musselman and Morgan Elvin.

South finished the tournament with a 1-2 record, having wrestled some tough competition.  He will return next year for his senior campaign hoping to build on this experience and to finish on the podium.

Lilly Musselman and Morgan Elvin (the younger sister of Tom) both wrestled well in their first trip to the state tournament.  They will be back for their sophomore year to build upon a great rookie season!

Tom Elvin finished off what turns out to be the best season in Lovejoy wrestling history.  He is only the second wrestler ever to place in the state tournament.  His 3rd place finish bests that of Thomas Kotecki ( 4th place in 2013) and seals his place in Lovejoy wrestling history.

Tom finished the season with a 46-5 record, finishing 4-1 for the tourney, with three of his four wins coming by pin!  That ups his season total and Lovejoy record to 41 of his wins coming by pin!  Tom finishes his career with 89 total wins, 74 of which he ended by pin.  Congrats to Tom and all of our other state qualifiers.
