This weeks “Coach of the Week” is Head Swim & Dive Coach Matt Franks.  Matt has coached swimming for the past 13 years at Tyler Robert E. Lee High School where he developed the Raiders program into one of the top swim programs in the State.  He has taken over a Leopard Swim program that has mad many successful seasons and Coach Franks looks to continue that strong tradition and take the Leopard program to new Championship levels.  “We are very proud to have Coach Franks as our Swim & Dive coach and look forward to many years of Championship Swimming & Diving.” – Jim Bob Puckett (Director of Athletics LISD)

Favorite Coach:    Eddie Reese                   Why:  He is an innovator and a legend in the coaching ranks and has always been willing to share knowledge with young, aspiring coaches

Athletic Background: Swimming (club, Varsity HS and Varsity College) 

Athletic Awards: All-Conference, Academic All-Conference, Team Co-Captain (HS & College)

Coaching/Teaching Experience (Years):     13 years     

Teaching Certification: All-Level Physical Education 

Coaching Background: 15 years of Club coaching experience; 13 years of Middle School & High School coaching

Coaching Awards: ASCA Level 4 rated coach (of 5); 3 Time Regional Coach of the Year; 17 time District Coach of the Year  

Favorite Coaching Moment:    Helping one of my original club swimmers make his first national cut and the undefeated Regional Championship season my boys HS team had in 2010-11      

Philosophy of Coaching: (1)     Challenge athletes to be leaders in the pool, the classroom and the community.  (2) Every practice and competition is a practice job interview   

Hobbies:     Crossfit, outdoor activities    

Something that people may not know about you: I love NY style pizza    

Why Lovejoy ISD?          I have an opportunity to build a championship culture and help the swim program and aquatics program become a model for other districts to follow upon the opening of our own facility.
